if u have a myspace, can it prevent you from getting a job? i applied for a job for FYE, but i'm afraid that if i'm asked if i have a myspace, and i say yes, i won't get this job.. i'm paranoid and i really don't think i would be asked this question.. but if it keeps u from going to certain colleges, can it prevent u from getting jobs?

its a website. no one can tell you cant have a job or go to college.. I haven't heard this. It would be saying.. You can't have this job or go to college because you have Yahoo.

never heard that they should not be able to ask that. however i never thought to look at an applicants page you could see if they were some wild freak. or druggy. make it private

There was a story on the news recently about peoples blogs (my-space, etc) coming back to haunt them when looking for a job later. The story talked about some people being denied jobs or promotions and even people being fired for things that the posted on the Internet. It also talked about how a lot of employers are doing a Google search on potential employees. You would probably be surprised about what Google can find out about you. My advice is never to post anything that you may regret saying later.

It isn't the myspace that prevents you from getting a job/getting into colleges, it's the content posted on it. it's probably safe to either a)not post information about drug use or other illegal activities on your myspace or b) make it private.
